The OPPO A74 5G comes with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display, and the 90Hz refresh rate means that transitions are smooth. It has a reasonable 480-nit peak brightness and a 1080 x 2400 resolution.
Display
A 1080p display isn't something you'll find in cheap phones these days, but the OPPO A74 5G delivers a smooth viewing experience that's on par with some of the more affordable flagships. This is thanks to a 90Hz refresh rate that makes scrolling fluid and improves gaming.
It also has a pixel density of 405 pixels per inch, which is quite good. Viewing angles are good and sunlight legibility is decent too.
The 6.5-inch IPS panel has a punch-hole notch at the top left corner, which encloses the selfie camera. The display comes with a 20:9 aspect ratio and is backed by the Snapdragon 480 processor.
It has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is adequate for daily use. The phone also supports 18W fast charging. The 5000mAh battery lasts for almost a day and a half with moderate use.
Camera
Cameras are a big part of a smartphone's appeal. And the OPPO A74 5G is no exception. Its triple rear cameras feature a 48-megapixel primary sensor, plus an 8-megapixel ultra-wide and 2-megapixel macro and depth sensors.
The wide-angle option is a welcome addition to the mix, but it doesn't do a great job at low-light. Even when using auto mode, the pictures look very dark and lacking detail.
Despite this, the overall picture quality is still good. You can't expect to take professional-quality shots here, but photos are good enough to share on social media. The pixel density is also reasonable, and the display gets adequately bright for outdoor use. The high refresh rate screen works well for gaming and general usage, too.
Performance
The Oppo A74 5G is a mid-range Android phone that supports 5G and offers a nice display. It has a 6.5-inch LCD screen with a 1080 x 2400 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.
It also comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which is sufficient for most people. A fast fingerprint sensor and a decent face unlock system are also on board.
On the performance front, the Oppo A74 5G packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC. This is a new entry in Qualcomm’s 400-series of chipsets and it performed well in benchmarks.
The chipset scored 3,18,144 points in AnTuTu and 1,726 in Geekbench 5. These numbers put it on par with MediaTek’s Dimensity 800U SoC in this price range.
Battery
The OPPO A74 5G is an affordable smartphone that has great battery life and support for 5G networks. It also has a lovely display and a good set of cameras that are suitable for daily use.
The battery is a standard 5000mAh, which should keep you going for a full day of light usage and maybe a little longer with moderate use. That's pretty much the norm in this price range, with other phones in this category able to get you through two full days on a single charge.
It supports 18W fast charging, which should cut the time it takes to refuel the battery in half. That's an improvement over the A54's 10W charge, but not as impressive as the 33W charging on many rivals from Poco and Redmi.
The OPPO A74 5G has a 6.5-inch LCD screen with a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz. That's not the most impressive screen you'll find in this price range, but it works well for everyday use.
