Samsung Galaxy Book2 review

Samsung appears to be serious about its second innings of Indian laptops. It is treating it as a test match with calculated strokes that aim to score high scores and cover as many areas as possible. With its hybrid form factor and AMOLED touchscreen, the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 is at the top end of the range. Samsung also offers a low-end, Snapdragon-powered laptop that can be used for education and basic productivity tasks. The Galaxy Book2, which I am currently using, is somewhere in the middle. This laptop is priced at Rs 79990 for the Core i7 model, while the Core i5 model starts at Rs 65990. It's a great workhorse, with its 15.6-inch screen, and specs that pack plenty of grunt.

The design of the Galaxy Book2 is what first strikes you. The Galaxy Book2 is finished in silver and features an all-aluminum body that appears minimalistic to the core. The laptop's sleek design is simple and elegant. It has a minimalistic industrial look inside and out. The device measures just 15.4mm in thickness and weighs 1.6kg. It is lightweight and portable, making it easy to transport.

Except for subtle Samsung branding placed to one side, the lid has no design elements. The big screen is revealed by opening the lid, which doesn't require both hands. It has slim bezels and a wider chin. Inside, the clean and flat design continues. The full-sized keyboard comes with a dedicated numberpad and a large trackpad below. The power key at the top right has a fingerprint scanner. It works well. You have more viewing angles with the screen's ability to fold 180 degrees.

The Galaxy Book2 has Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6, and a decent selection of ports. The left side shows a few Type-C ports and an HDMI. A USB Type-A port v3.2 port is also visible. To the right, you will find a security slot and another Type-A port. Thunderbolt support seems to be missing, however. The webcam only 720p is a problem. However, the stereo speakers produce good audio.

Full HD 15.6 inch screen is LED, but it lacks the benefits of its AMOLED counterpart. The Galaxy Book2's screen is still capable of displaying vibrant colours and crisp, clear visuals. The keyboard is easy to use. There are numpads and keys that are clearly marked. The keys could have a bit more travel but the 3-stage white backlight makes it very useful. I have no complaints about the trackpad, which is responsive and large.

Software-wise, Windows 11 Home and Microsoft Office are available. There are many Samsung apps pre-installed on the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360. Many of these apps can be useful if you are already part of the Samsung ecosystem and use one or more of its tablets or smartphones. If you own a Samsung Galaxy tablet, the Galaxy Book2's trackpad and keyboard can be used to control it. You can also drag and drop data between the two devices. Samsung Settings is worth mentioning because it allows you limit charging to 85 percent to keep your laptop's battery healthy, select performance modes, and choose a colour mode to the display. You can also set colour temperature, colour mode, and set colour temperatures. You can also choose the timeout duration of the keyboard backlight.

The 12th-gen Core i7-1255U CPU handles number crunching in the Galaxy Book2, while Intel Iris Xe handles graphics. There is also 512GB NVMe SSD and 16GB LPDDR4x RAM. You can even add a spare SSD slot. The benchmark figures are good and it shows in real-world use. The Galaxy Book2 is a great choice for gaming intensives, but it performs well otherwise. The Galaxy Book2's large screen and features such as the dedicated numpad make them ideal for productivity tasks. It also excels at multitasking, and this is due to its excellent handling of multiple tasks. It has a 54Wh battery that provides a reasonable amount of battery life. You should be able get a full day of productivity-based use out of it. The machine can be charged with the Type-C 45W Type-C battery in just 2 hours.

The Samsung Galaxy Book2 is a very attractive device that's well-suited for office and work. There are a few niggles but it scores well where it counts. It scores high in design, portability, and performance. This laptop is a worthy option for anyone looking for a sleek, stylish laptop with lots of power.
