Google Pixel 6a review

The Pixel 6a borrows design elements from its more expensive siblings. It looks almost like a miniature Pixel 6 Pro. It's not a bad thing, I like the design of Google's flagships. The handset is also unique in that it looks like no other Indian device. For instance, the back of the phone features a long strip, or a "visor", that houses the dual-camera array. The width of the camera module is also uniform across the phone, so the handset won't slip on flat surfaces. The smartphone weighs in at 178g. The Pixel 6a is extremely comfortable to use every day and I never felt any wrist fatigue while driving it.While I like the design of this phone, I wish that the company had paid more attention to the colour options. The Pixel 6a is available in two colours: Chalk white or Charcoal black. The first was given to me for review. Needless to say, the glossy finish is easy to smudge. Some people might find the color scheme too dull. The smartphone comes with a plastic back to add salt to the wounds. This might make it difficult for buyers who are looking to spend upwards of 40K on a new handset. The device has IP67 certification which is a rare find in this price range. The phone can be used in the shower or near a swimming pool, and you won't have to worry about it getting damaged. The phone has very tight haptics, and you will enjoy typing long messages. The handset comes with a USB Type C port at the bottom. It is flanked on both sides by a speaker grill. On the right-hand spine of the phone, you will find the volume rocker and the power button. The device does not have facial recognition technology, but it does boast an in-display fingerprint scanner that works well for most of the time. However, we did notice that the sensor could unlock the device using unregistered fingerprints. The unit works as advertised at the time we wrote this review. The Pixel 6a displays a 6.1-inch OLED panel with FHD+. Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 v3 is layered on top of the screen to protect it from scratches and dings. The display is bright enough to be comfortable using even in the harsh Delhi sun. The device can also relay HDR content from OTT services such as Netflix. The display could have used a few more sleeker bezels. The panel refreshes at 60Hz, so you won't enjoy smooth animations or seamless UI transitions. This is quite disappointing considering that most premium Android phones have an HRR screen. If you're migrating from an Android phone with a screen of 90Hz or 120Hz to the Google Pixel 6,a, it is important to be realistic about your expectations. The Google Pixel 6a comes with the Tensor chip, which works in conjunction with UFS 3.1 storage. You can read about the SoC’s performance here. To get you started, Google's Tensor platform is a beast. It can run multiple apps simultaneously, browse the web, and many other tasks. The processor was a bit slower than Qualcomm's 8-series SoCs, and the MediaTek Dimensity chipets (Dimensity 80100).The SoC throttles quite a lot, which can be attributed, at least in part, to the Pixel 6a’s sleek chassis. Be that as it may, I noticed quite a few stutters when running graphically-demanding games on the set. The Snapdragon 778G Plus-backed No Phone (1) ( Review) was able to overcome higher average FPS in Apex Legends Mobile. The Pixel 6a is an excellent daily driver. However, gamers will be wanting more power and stability. The device ships with Android 12 software. The Pixel 6a runs a stock Android version. As such, there aren't many customisability options. The phone does have the ability to adjust the grid size and alter the accent colours in the status bar. To make the most out of your icon collection, you will need to use a third party launcher or an app like Awesome icons (which allows users to remap every icon individually). The quick action settings menu for Android 12 is not my favorite feature. I don't like the way that all of a phone’s internet settings, including toggles for Wi Fi and LTE connectivity, are combined under one roof.

This means that I must tap repeatedly to activate or disable Wi-Fi on my phone or select another network. It can get tedious. The smartphone comes with no bloatware. The phone comes with a bunch of Google utilities that can be used to enhance your photos, such as Live Translate and Now Playing. With moderate use, the Pixel 6a can last until bedtime thanks to its 4,410mAh battery. My time with the phone was approximately five hours. I used it to browse various social media platforms, listen to music, and make a few calls. The device does not come with a charging cable. The handset's 18W charging speed is a problem. This means that you will need to keep your phone connected to a wall outlet for much longer than if you were using a Realme or OnePlus phone. You're probably expecting the phone's camera to fix all your problems. You might want to take a seat for this one. The Pixel 6a comes with a powerful camera stack that can take stunning photos thanks to Google's computational photography smarts. But the truth is that there has been a lot of competition. The phone is no longer a premium option to similar-priced models. The 12.2MP main sensor of the Pixel 6a produced slightly less sharp images and tended to have smaller edges. Although the 8MP selfie camera does a good job at dynamic range, the unit's stills can be difficult to see facial details. The Pixel 6a's night shots are more noisy than comparable pixel-binned images from the OnePlus10R ( Review). The smartphone is still capable of taking excellent portraits of human subjects. The handset can also transform HDR-enhanced images, which will enhance any Instagram account. The device did a lot to jazz up the frames' colours. The same issue was highlighted in my detailed camera comparison between the No Phone (1) and Pixel 6a. If you're interested in a deeper understanding of the phone’s photography abilities, I recommend reading it. The 6a is a great phone for photography, but it doesn't have the same camera capabilities as its predecessors.India's Pixel 6a is available at Rs 43,999. The device does a lot for its price. The phone has a simple, clean UI that is easy to use and feels premium. The 6a is also a good fit for the hand, and Google's Tensor chip is not the fastest. The handset could have done with a higher refresh rate display, however. The smartphone's charging speed is slow, and the smartphone's camera performance is not good enough to give it an edge over its competitors.Buyers who are looking for the fastest and most feature-packed Android phone should consider other options. The Pixel 6a is a great phone if you are a fan of software and ergonomics.
